Practical Recommendation
Great if you already shop at Sam's and especially if you're a Plus member. Aim the card at gas (easy 5%), dining (3%), and your Sam's runs (3% with Plus). Rewards post as Sam's Cash you can spend in-club/online or cash out at the desk.
If you are not Plus, you only get 1% at Sam's, so treat this like a gas-and-dining card and keep a simple 2% card for everything else. Two things moved in 2026: membership prices rose on May 1 to $60 Club / $120 Plus, and the Plus 2% Sam's Cash cap went up from $500 to $750 a year, which softens the increase if you actually shop there.
Perks
- Earning rates (detailed) – 5% at U.S. gas stations and EV charging stations (and Sam's/Walmart fuel) up to $6,000 per calendar year, then 1%; 3% at restaurants/takeout; 3% at Sam's Club for Plus members (Club members earn 1%); 1% on other purchases.
- Plus stacking to "up to 5%" in-club – Plus membership adds 2% Sam's Cash on qualifying purchases, stacking with the card's 3% for a total up to 5%. As of May 2026 the Plus 2% cap was raised to $750 per membership year (it used to be $500). Limits & catches: fuel, alcohol, tobacco, and gift cards are excluded.
- Sam's Cash redemption – Sam's Cash loads to your membership monthly; redeem for most Sam's purchases or cash out at the club. Simple and flexible.
- Annual Sam's Cash cap – Cardholders can earn up to $5,000 in Sam's Cash from the credit card in a calendar year; separate from the Plus 2% cap.
- No foreign transaction fees – Useful when traveling; issuer fee is 0%.
- Doubles as your membership card – The physical card also works as your Sam's membership ID for entry and checkout.
- Membership is your real cost – The card has no annual fee, but you need a Sam's Club membership. Prices went up on May 1, 2026: Club is $60/year and Plus is $120/year. Limits & catches: the 3% in-club rate only applies to Plus members, so the upgrade math matters if Sam's is a big part of your budget.
